Considering that Taisho, Maemuki, Michi, Kosedo, and Yukimaru were all leaning Shibatsu when Court started, and then all but Kosedo ended up backing Seiken because of that shitstorm?

Yes. I am definitely still less than thrilled with that particular completely avoidable diplomatic breakdown.

The fact that a major part of why things went south has to do with one of the most self-righteous, hotheaded, and narrow-minded players I've ever encountered in an online game is just gravy.

So, anyone else go through the Toshi Ranbo chapter of the L5R Atlas of Rokugan, and spot some nods to Winter Court IV?

I have found both Nanashi's Noodles and the House of the Orange Blossom. The latter was a mainstay of my tabletop RPG games, as my go to name for a restaurant in whatever city the players were in. Yoshi and his delicious dumplings were just something that became a personal trope, so when I needed a nice restaurant to have dinner meetings at in WC4, I just used the House of the Orange Blossom.

And now it is canon.
