Into the top four too - although the knockout starts tomorrow, as the first seed Adam is straight into the semi-finals where he'll play the winner of Jon versus Andrew. Good luck Adam!

Chris Chubb advances over Eoin Burke

Paul Evans advances via random determination over Adrian Barnes. Boo!

They tend to stop posting when they are done playing for the day...

Two day event... :p

Chris beat Evo
Adam beat Jon

Final is under way - Spider versus Crane, both playing Standing Fast variants, apparently.

Self-correction: Adam was playing big unit military, but using Monksai. Chris wins 2-0, but congratulations to Adam on a fantastic showing with an often-dismissed archetype!

According to the kotei report the TO posted, Adam wins with Spider after a concession. He chooses that Hida O-Win lives (the character of Eoin Burke).

Congratulations to Adam and Eoin!

I find it funny that a Crab character owes his continued life to Crane and Spider players.

As much as I am normally opposed to saving Crabs, a Spider win is a Spider win, and I glad to hear we took it!

As I've mentioned on his tourney report/deck thread, I think the win could work well with the story, and is pretty much in favor of our Lightwalkers.

The only ironic part there is that Kanpeki, Unleashed is in the deck. But I guess that could work too!

Yeah, with 10 Shadowlands cards in here I wouldn't call it a walker victory as this is quite the corrupt deck... more of a Shourido victory since the monksai seems to be heading that way. Either way Sora could make another appearance which would be fine with me.

Pure spider is next to impossible so less evil is the best we can do I would think.

It's the old challenge of Corrupt vs. Non-Corrupt... if you have to play Corrupt to win, is it fair to punish the Faction for the victory? If you don't have to play Corrupt to win, then why play Corrupt?

Balancing a game with 9 Factions is hard enough. Adding to that a Corruption mechanic? Nightmarish.

But hey, I am looking forward to reading about Hida O-Win getting saved by a face-punchy non-Tainted monk. Because 'Shourido!'.

I wouldn't call with a Standing fast variant :P

Adam's deck couldn't run it, it needs to be a Samurai after all!
My deck has it in because it's one of the best actions in set, but the deck is not built around it at all, so I hate having it referred to as a "standing fast deck" :P It's a very minor component!

The deck struggles against Ujirou and the pace at which the Crane can take provinces with very good Cavalry people, but the win was very deserved in my opinion!

I for one look forward to sitting on the left hand side of the blood of Hantei once more! Remember who your allies are when you come in to power ;)

Yep, I mistook Jon's comment about all the semi-final decks being 'big unit' as meaning all four were Samurai-based, and corrected it as soon as I had clarification. Congratulations on going sort-of back to back, Chris!
